INFO [WIP]
May. 9th, 2021 05:32 pmName: Randolph Carter
Canon: H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos
PB: John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats
Appearance: 5'10". Middle-aged. Pale, dark-haired. Moderately muscular, more than one would expect of a New England academic. His hands develop a tremor when stressed. He was injured during the Battle of the Somme, and suffers chronic pain from those injuries. ((Note to self: Does he self-medicate? How?))
Aura: For all that his flesh is unremarkable, seen through other eyes, Carter is a marvelous, dangerous thing, with his potential only tarnished by the mundanity of everyday life. He is human -- born human, remains human -- but carries about him the sense of potential for something so much more. While he is a well-educated student of the occult, he is not a devoted practitioner of it.
Abilities: Writing -- mediocre fiction, decent (if verbose) non-fiction. Academic research. Anthropology -- at a 1920s level of informed. Occult studies -- at the same level. (Real-life religions, movements and societies, and those specific to the Cthulhu Mythos.) WWI combat veteran with the French Foreign Legion. Faints under extreme stress. Extensive knowledge of lucid dreaming techniques and the philosophies they are grounded in. Polyglot - Can at least speak English, French, Latin, Arabic, some small fragments of ancient Hyperborean. Probably more. Faded knowledge of Zoog-speak and Cat (yes, cat).
